Local Area Information

Horseshoe Cottage is located on our 300 acre family farm at Lelant, which is a village between Hayle and St Ives.

Within 20 minutes' walk you can reach our local pubs and cafes - The Watermill Inn, Quay Inn, Birdies Bistro, Dobbies Garden Centre, The Old Forge, La Casita and the Badger Inn.

St Erth Park and Ride is only a short distance away where you can take the train along the renowned coastal branch line to St Ives, taking the stress of parking out of your visit to our wonderfully vibrant and busy town.  There is also a bus stop with a 20 minute walk from the farm.

Being only a few minutes' drive from the main A30, we are perfectly located to explore all that West Cornwall has to offer - visit St Michael's Mount, explore our fantastic stretch of the South West Coast path, stride out across the Penwith Moors to take in the wild landscapes and see firsthand the mining history in the engine houses and chimneys that dot the countryside and coastline or visit the numerous visitor attractions and gardens.

St Ives

We are 3 miles from the quaint town of St Ives with its cobbled streets, restaurants, wonderful shops and art galleries including the Tate.

St Ives has a number of beaches to choose from - Porthminster, Porthgwidden and Porthmeor, as well as the iconic harbour.

Our town also boasts a number of fabulous independent shops and galleries - don't forget to support local businesses when you're shopping for gifts, food or clothing!

Carbis Bay

In between Lelant and St Ives is Carbis Bay with its shop, supermarket, train station and beach.  Carbis Bay beach is a lovely spot for swimming, soaking up the sun and there are seasonal hire facilities for SUP and kayaking.

Lelant

A small village just off the A30, Lelant has pubs, a garden centre and cafes.  But what is often not realised is that it also has the most wonderful beach.  There are no facilities there but it is a vast stretch of sand at low tide with views across to Hayle's 3 miles of golden sands and Godrevy Lighthouse.  A great place for a walk or picnic, it's often quiet so a nice beach to escape the crowds!

Hayle

Hayle is a town close by which offers a number of independent shops, supermarkets as well as places to eat out and of course the beautiful 3 miles of golden sands which stretch from the estuary right around to Godrevy Lighthouse.

Walking

If you like walking you will be spoilt for choice!  We have a number of walks printed off and available in the cottages, but if you want to plan ahead there's a great website iwalkcornwall who also have an amazing App which has a wide range of circular walk options for all abilities to help you discover the true beauty of Cornwall.

We often go out walking and share photos of where we've been on Facebook and Instagram, so why not pop over and give us a follow for some inspiration!
